Kadarius Toney Will Sign With the Los Angeles Chargers After Being Cut by Chiefs

The last two seasons, Kadrius Toney has been on the Kansas City Chiefs. As of roster cut down day, he was cut, but it won’t take Toney long to get on a new team, and that team will be the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers made sure to add to their wide receiver room in the 2024 NFL Draft with Ladd McConkey and Brenden Rice. That shouldn’t stop them though from getting more talent to add to the offense.

With this being Jim Harbaugh’s first season as the head coach for Los Angeles, he needs to make sure that he surrounds Justin Herbert with as much talent as possible. McConkey and Rice are both going to be stars, but they’re rookies and with that comes a learning curve. The other receiver is Quentin Johnston, which isn’t necessarily ideal, as he has struggled with drops and creating separation over his career.

With Toney, he does have nine drops over his career, but with the Chargers offensive scheme, he would be ideal. Toney has the speed to gain separation, and with the arm talent of Herbert, Toney would be able to be utilized deep. Not to mention, after being in the NFL for three years, he brings experience, and that includes two years on the division rival Chiefs team. With the elusiveness of Toney too, he would provide Harbaugh with the versatility to get creative and use him as a ball carrier.

Over his time in the NFL so far, Toney has accumulated 810 yards and four touchdowns over 89 receptions. When looking back at his college years at Florida, he put up 1,583 yards and 12 touchdowns over 120 receptions with his speed being utilized more by creating 1,020 yards after the catch. It’s safe to say Toney at the NFL level hasn’t been utilized to his full potential, and that presents the opportunity for the Chargers to add a star in the making to their offense.
