Two catches for 27 yards is not a final stat-line that anyone expected from Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson on Sunday, but those were the exact totals that he finished with during the team's Week 12 win over the Chicago Bears.
Understandably, Jefferson was happy that the Vikings got the victory on Sunday, but he wasn't thrilled with his performance against the Bears. After the win, Minnesota's top receiver shared his frustrations with the Minnesota Star Tribune.
"I mean, I always want to have an impact on the game, and I always want to create some spark for our team. Defenders, the way they cover and the way the game goes, it might not happen all the time. So, it’s frustrating at times. But we got the win and that’s all that matters."
While Jefferson's performance this weekend seemed more abnormal than previous meetings with Chicago, it was actually a bit similar to how he played during his last two appearances against the Bears on the road.
Since he was injured, he didn't play in Minnesota's trip to Chicago last season, but in 2022 and 2021, he averaged four catches and 42.5 yards in the Vikings' two road matchups against the Bears. For whatever reason, Chicago's Solider Field just seems to be a venue where Jefferson has struggled during the last few seasons.
Luckily, Minnesota and Jefferson will be playing its next three games at home inside U.S. Bank Stadium, a venue where the All-Pro wide receiver has had some of his best games this year.
In the Vikings' four contests inside U.S. Bank Stadium this season, Jefferson has caught a total of three touchdowns while averaging six receptions and 108 receiving yards per game.
Whatever sort of funk that he was in during Minnesota's win over Chicago on Sunday should be gone when the Vikings return home to face the Arizona Cardinals next weekend.
