The New York Jets have an exciting season ahead of them with new Head Coach Aaron Glenn, Quarterback Justin Fields, and a ton of young talent like Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson.
While there seems to be a ton of optimism, the truth is that Justin Fields is only under contract for two seasons, and only has a $22 million cap hit next season, so they have an easy out if Fields doesn’t have a bright season in 2025.
Looking at the Atlanta Falcons, they have their “Franchise Quarterback” Michael Penix Jr, so getting rid of Kirk Cousins with three more seasons under contract is a when-not-if conversation. The Falcons could wait until 2026 to release him for just a $35 million cap hit, or they can still trade him this offseason.
