Josh Allen is the de facto leader of the Buffalo Bills. That means the team will respond to how he plays and conducts himself. The team did have a productive 2024-25 campaign when a lot was riding on how the QB gelled with young players such as Keon Coleman .
When the Florida State alum first came into the league, fans and media were aware of his jovial nature. He was even asked if he would take up playing golf to try and build a relationship with Allen, but he trolled his own ability to swing a golf club.
Fans and media felt the Bills were going to have a middle of the park season. All those predictions, though, were tossed out when it became evident that the team gelled fast enough to go on winning streaks against good opponents.
They took that form to resoundingly hand the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season. Just that they could not do the same when they met again in the AFC Championship game. Reporters were curious how the team clicked this fast to reach those heights.
So, the first time (Josh Allen) invited me to dinner at his place. I don’t even know what this was, the woman cooked. It looked like we were eating some onions, fish and bread. This is like the stuff Jesus fed the people in the little children’s book.
Keon Coleman said
The Louisiana native is not used to food like that. He asked his quarterback what that food was all about. Louisiana natives are proud of their varied food habits, but this menu was a bit too much for Keon Coleman. However, it seems those bonding sessions over ‘Jesus food’ worked.
Keon Coleman will have new teammates around him
The Buffalo Bills traded for veteran receiver Amari Cooper . They believed the star wideout will help the younger receivers improve as professional football players. But he struggled with injuries and the team know injuries are not the way to go.
If they want to win the Super Bowl, they need players on the field. Keeping that in mind, they have extended Khalil Shakir after a stellar season. Instead of bringing Cooper back, they have shifted their direction on another non diva receiver in Joshua Palmer.
They also brought in Laviska Shenault Jr. on a one-year deal, just to have some extra options. There are rumors linking Stefon Diggs back to the team, but going by how his relationship with Josh Allen developed, it would be wise to avoid going that route.
Buffalo Bills’ building Super Bowl contending squad
Other than those moves at wide receiver positions, the Buffalo Bills have made some other moves. The first move was to let go of Von Miller. It was not a popular move, considering he was a fan favorite. But at the same time, he is 35 years old and is not as impactful as he once was.
Instead, they went six years younger to sign Joey Bosa to a one-year deal. The pass rusher joins former Los Angeles Chargers teammate Palmer in their new workplace on a prove it contract. He also has an injury history, therefore, the deal made sense.
Along with that, they have let go of certain players while also signing in a few impactful players. The Bills are not looking to draw in superstar names, but they do need players who can help elevate an already great defense.
To reach and win a Super Bowl, the team needs to collectively find that extra yard or two. However, their moves this free agency are not focused on finding those yards in just the upcoming season. Rather, these moves expand Allen and the Bills championship window.
