Josh Allen and his fellow Bills quarterbacks Mitch Trubisky, Mike White, and Shane Buchele dropped by at the Yankees stadium on Tuesday to watch the New York side face the Los Angeles Dodgers in World Series Game 4. This caught some of the fans off guard as familiar faces looking for seats to watch the game.
The Yankees would go on to blow away the Shohei Ohtani-less Dodgers 11-4 (trailing 3-1 in the series). While fans witnessed Allen and the boys cheering the Yankees, they weren’t aware of Allen’s little secret.
During Wednesday’s press conference, Allen was asked about their little detour to the baseball game. He wanted to treat them for helping him out over the years to become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Mike White’s enthusiasm is natural because he played high school baseball and earned first-team All-Broward County honors as a pitcher, and is a Yankees fan.
Josh Allen isn’t a fan of the Yankees
Even though Allen was happy to tag along with White and the others, he also had an ulterior motive to attend the Yankees game. Instead of cheering for the New Yorkers like the other three, he was there to cheer against the Dodgers.
The 28-year-old grew up in Firebaugh, about 45 minutes west of Fresno. Most residents from the area are axiomatically Giants fans. Moreover, every Giants fan is a perennial Dodgers hater—the enemy of my enemy is my friend—so Allen had no issue backing the Yankees.
They quickly made it back to the Meadowlands for the Bills team meeting to prepare for the arrival of AFC East rivals the Miami Dolphins in Week 9. The Bills handed Seattle a dominating 31-10 loss in which Josh Allen completed 24 of 34 passes for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and his first interception of the season. He currently has 1766 yards and 14 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 73.7 (4th in the league).
