The Green Bay Packers will need to spend some early picks in the 2025 NFL Draft on pass rushers and defensive tackles to fortify their defense, but they will likely bring in another wide receiver in the name of giving Jordan Love as many tools to succeed as possible.
The bustling metropolis of Logan, Utah appears to have become a very fertile proving ground for Packers developmental success stories. Love has proven to be worth the time and investment in him, and he could have one of his fellow Utah State alums follow him.
There is another former Aggies star who could find his way to Green Bay this year in deep threat wide receiver Jalen Royals. In an appearance on Kay Adams' show, the outspoken Love let it be known that he wouldn't exactly be opposed to Green Bay making a move for Royals.
Love said that while he knows how much tape the Packers' front office has been grinding in the last few weeks, he has hinted that he would be very excited at the possibility of playing alongside the rising wide receiver. From a stylistic point of view, the fit might be almost too good.
Royals is at his best as a vertical field stretcher, which could make him a solid addition for someone with Love's big arm. Royals has tremendous speed and the ability to shake defenders loose. As an underneath receiver, Royals' athletic ability suggests that he could evolve into a more varied wide receiver.
Royals needs to work on winning at the line of scrimmage without just leaning on his technique, as NFL cornerbacks can and will exploit it. Drops can be an issue with him at times, and he will experience a major jump in competition that needs to be accounted for when projecting him.
Royals will likely begin the season as WR4 behind Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson. However, in terms of his ceiling, Royals is right there with that trio. Considering how none of those three or Dontayvion Wicks were first-round picks, Matt LaFleur can surely develop wide receivers.
Even if one removes the Utah State connection, Love and Royals could be a dynamic duo in Green Bay. Adding that in makes the fit too obvious, as the two former Aggies could make magic happen together if Royals can be let off the leash as a rookie.
