The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys faced off on Thanksgiving, the second divisional matchup of the day.
Earlier in the day, the Detroit Lions took down the Chicago Bears in an NFC North clash, an exciting game to kick off the festivities.
While the game between the Giants and Cowboys might have been interesting on paper when the schedule-makers put out this game, it ended up being something of a blowout.
Both teams started backup quarterbacks, as Drew Lock took the reins for the Giants, and Cooper Rush started in relief of Dak Prescott for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys’ offense was clicking from the get-go, and their defense capitalized on Lock’s mistakes, returning an interception for a touchdown early in the game.
Near the end of the third quarter, the score was 27-10 in favor of the Cowboys, and things were not looking good for the Giants.
FOX’s coverage of the game panned to John Mara, the Giants’ president, who had a less-than-thrilled look on his face.
Lawrence Tynes posted an image of Mara’s discontent on X, satirically saying, “Happy Thanksgiving!”
This was not the result that Mara was looking for, especially on a holiday.
While Thanksgiving games can take players away from their families, they can also provide entertainment for millions of families around the world.
Teams want to put their best foot forward in games like this, and unfortunately for the Giants, they weren’t able to do that.
This organization seemingly has a lot of work to do in the offseason to become playoff hopefuls in 2025.
