The NFL offseason provides a chance for a long, hard look at the incoming class of college prospects vying for position in the annual NFL Draft, and the 2025 collection of potential rookies is no different. Teams visit the NFL combine, attend all-star games, host official pre-draft visits and more—all in an effort to sift and sort as best they can.

One group in particular that could prove difficult to evaluate in full is the talented group of defensive linemen coming out of Texas A&M for the 2025 NFL Draft. Thus it's a good thing that the Chiefs had a first-hand look at the group via a trusted member of Andy Reid's coaching staff.

The Chiefs had a first-hand look at Texas A&M's pro day with Joe Cullen running drills.

Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen was on hand at Texas A&M's pro day to run postional drills for the unit, giving the Chiefs an inside glimpse of draft-ready talents like Shemar Stewart, Nic Scourton, and Shemar Turner.

The Chiefs are selecting at No. 31 overall in the first round, which could conceivably put them in range to take either Scourton or Stewart with their first overall selection in the draft. Stewart is projected as a potential Day 2 grab, and the Chiefs have four overall picks in the top 100 of the draft class.

When a talented unit plays together, it can prove daunting to try to differentiate one talent from another—making it difficult to properly evaluate just how much a player benefits from playing next to someone else. The Chiefs learned this lesson well in previous drafts when they selected the likes of defensive tackle Ryan Sims who looked good next to future Hall of Famer Julius Peppers up front for North Carolina.

The good news is that having someone like Cullen seeing each prospect's workout—even doing whatever he asks of them in the moment—gives the Chiefs a leg up in terms of seeing what the crop of Aggie linemen might be able to contribute at the next level.
