Allen Lazard came to the New York Jets in 2023 as a part of the Aaron Rodgers recruitment class.

Thee goal was to make the transition for the four-time MVP a comfortable one.

The two had shared seasons together on the Green Bay Packers, but after Rodgers missed the entire 2023 season to an Achilles injury and 2024 took a tailspin amid a mid-season personnel overhaul and sensationalized coverage of the team, Lazard never amounted to his hopes in New York.

Lazard posted 37 catches for 530 yards and six touchdowns with Rodgers back under center last season.

The Jets dismissed Rodgers after the 2024 season, opting to start a fresh slate, following the hires of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

Lazard is entering the third season of the four-year, $44 million deal he signed with the Jets. He has two years left on that deal, which demands $11 million this season while he carries a $13.2 million salary cap number.

Mougey admitted on Monday that the Jets are "working through" a contract restructure with Lazard.

“That’s the hope,” Mougey said to the New York Post.

This effort is in addition to the Jets having to juggle contract extensions with star wideout Garrett Wilson and cornerback Sauce Gardner, among other names rostered.

“In regard to extensions in general, there’s been a lot of talk about that,” Mougey said. “We have several players whether it’s early extensions or just players we can extend in the last year. Those are good problems to have. We’re having those discussions and those are good discussions to have but right now my focus is on the draft. Once we get through the draft, we’ll talk about potential extensions for whoever that may be.”
