Jets Star Puts NFL on Blast After Massive $45,000 Fine

The New York Jets will look to stop a four-game losing streak on Sunday when they visit the New England Patriots. However, one defensive star received some bad news on Saturday ahead of the Week 8 AFC East battle.

Linebacker Quincy Williams, a 2023 All-Pro selection and the brothers of Jets star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, was fined $45,020 by the NFL.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the punishment was due to what the league described as "unnecessary roughness/use of helmet" against Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren while making a tackle just shy of the Jets' end zone.

About one hour after Pelissero's post on X, Williams responded by putting the NFL on blast and pointing out how Warren lowered his head as well.

"how am I supposed to make this tackle? My shoulder ain't that far from my head. he lowering his helmet to make contact with me. I WILL NOT GET RAN OVER!!! #Flagfootball #Twohandtouch," Williams wrote.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to fines from the league office.

Williams has been docked five other times in his six-year pro career, all in the last three seasons with the Jets. Four of his six NFL fines have been for unnecessary roughness.

Williams finished Sunday's 37-15 loss to Pittsburgh with five total tackles, bringing his season total up to 48, tied for second-most on the team. He recorded a career-high 139 tackles a season ago.
