The New York Jets struggled tremendously last season, but this struggle isn't completely in vain. New York landed the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft because of their horrendous season under two head coaches and veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
With this top ten pick, the Jets have been connected to a lot of different players. After signing quarterback Justin Fields in free agency, it seems like this pick is likely to be used on a weapon for Fields to throw to, potentially either Tetairoa McMillan or Tyler Warren.
But some draft experts see it a different way.
CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso recently made a very bold prediction in his post-free agency mock draft. Not only does Trapasso predict Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will fall out of the top five picks, but he predicts Sanders will be selected by the Jets at pick No. 7.
"The Jets plan for the future at the quarterback spot and prepare for a Sanders/Justin Fields quarterback battle that'll surely grab headlines in August," Trapasso wrote.
The Jets shouldn't chase another quarterback with Fields on the roster. Fields is still just 26 years old and has a lot of talent.
But if Sanders falls into their lap at pick No. 7, nobody will blame them for drafting the Colorado signal caller.
Sanders is a very talented quarterback prospect with an elite arm and projectable athleticism. He has the potential to turn into an All-Pro quarterback in the right system. For this reason, most draft experts expect Sanders to be selected in the top three picks.
If he's available at pick No. 7, there's a real chance the Jets take a shot on him and create the most entertaining quarterback battle of the offseason.
