Olu Fashanu had a crazy roller coaster rookie season for the New York Jets in 2024.
Head coach Aaron Glenn revealed that the former Penn State product has gone the extra mile this offseason to take the next step in his NFL career.
“Here is what I’ll say about Olu, I mean, this started back in OTAs, he committed a number of days to just being here. I’m not just talking about the times that he has to be here, as far as the workouts, he was here on the weekends like getting work in on his own, on his own. He is committed to making sure that he is available for one and also that he is going to be a huge part of what we’re trying to build when it comes to the O-Line,” Glenn explained.
“Those guys do a really good job of communicating [and] those guys do a really good job of being around each other and getting a chance to know each other. [Olu] is a big, physical man with long arms that you want your left tackle to be built the way that he is built. So I’m excited about that player. I’m excited about how he is going to mature as camp goes on,” Glenn added.

ESPN NFL Analyst Shares His Insights on Jets O-Line
The Jets had many visitors at training camp on Saturday, July 26. One of the most notable was former Jet and current ESPN NFL analyst Damien Woody.
“We know that the Jets have invested a lot of capital, whether it be draft capital or free agency, really getting this unit up to par. I’m so excited for this unit because I think they can be the engine behind this whole team,” Woody said on “New York Jets Training Camp Practice Look-In.”
Since 2020, the Jets have invested more top-15 picks into the offensive line than any other team in the NFL. So the green and white haven’t failed from a lack of trying. However, it’s time for those investments to pay off in 2025.
“When those five guys are able to play together, and I think that is the biggest thing: having that cohesiveness, that chemistry, that physicality, everything else will follow suit from that point,” Woody explained.
Only two Jets offensive linemen appeared in all 17 games last season. Those were Joe Tippmann and John Simpson.
Fashanu was in and out of the lineup at different positions. While Alijah Vera-Tucker played in the most amount of games since his rookie season (15), it still wasn’t a full campaign. Armand Membou was a rookie last year, so he is ineligible for this discussion.
The key to success is this unit staying healthy and building those live game reps with each other.
