Jets Biggest Free Agency 'Shocker' Revealed

The New York Jets have made several decisions this offseason as new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey try to clean up the two-year mess they walked into this offseason.

Jets Biggest Free Agency 'Shocker' Revealed

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have left, and the franchise now trusts Justin Fields to lead the offense. But as things stand, Garrett Wilson is again the only main pass catcher.

But it is here where a move was expected to be made but hasn't, with Allen Lazard still on the roster. But why?

For The Athletic's Zach Rosenblatt, the Jets might be waiting until after the draft before cutting ties with Lazard.

“The biggest shocker of free agency for the Jets so far might be that Lazard remains on the roster — and until further notice is their best option as the No. 2 wide receiver,” Rosenblatt wrote. “The under-30 free-agent options aren’t especially appealing — Devin Duvernay, Elijah Moore, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Terrace Marshall among them — so the more likely outcome is that the Jets are waiting to see what they can add in the NFL Draft before making a decision on Lazard.”

There is a "youth movement" from the Jets, so we don't expect the franchise to go after veterans in free agency despite having $27 million in cap space per Over The Cap.

Holding the No. 7 pick, the Jets in several mock drafts are taking a receiver or tight end, which would then likely see the franchise move on from Lazard.

Halfway through his four-year deal, Lazard has just 841 yards and seven touchdowns, it hasn't been the move the Jets had hoped for.

Many thought he would be one of the first to be released, but now it appears the Jets are waiting to access their options post-draft to decide on Lazard's future.
