Jayson Tatum Mocks Ex-NBA Player’s ‘Softest’ Celtics Star Remark

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum got drilled with an unprovoked diss ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

Jayson Tatum Mocks Ex-NBA Player's 'Softest' Celtics Star Remark

Tatum performed in the marquee contest, scoring a game-high 29 points with four rebounds and six assists to get the Celtics back in the win column. Boston left Denver on a high note, ended its four-game road trip and with a few days off before returning home, Tatum elected to address ex-NBA guard turned troll Brandon Jennings.

It all began when Jennings called Tatum the “softest Celtics superstar ever during a segment on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast. Tatum’s trainer Drew Hanlen fired back in defense of the five-time All-Star while Jennings doubled down in response.

“SoFtesT SuPeRstar in CeLtiC HiStoRy,” Tatum posted on Instagram Wednesday night.

Tatum signed a record-large ($315 million) extension with the Celtics in the offseason, coming off a championship and All-NBA First Team nod — his third.

Jennings, a zero-time All-Star, averaged 8.9 points throughout his nine-year career. The now-35-year-old only ever competed for the Rookie of the Year Award and finished third — behind Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry — in 2010.

Coming off a controversial Olympic benching with Team USA, courtesy of Steve Kerr, coupled with doubts about Boston’s ability to defend its title, Tatum is already used to being badmouthed. The 26-year-old sacrificed his personal scoring figure and potential MVP campaign last season in exchange for Banner 18, but Jennings chose to twist and turn the context to better fit his poorly worded narrative.
