Jayson Tatum is coming off a great championship victory with the Boston Celtics. As such, Tatum has been selected for the stacked Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. During the Team USA practice camp, Kiyan Anthony, the son of Knicks Legend Carmelo Anthony joined the camp along with his father. Kiyan is a great college prospect and aims to play in the NBA just like his dad. The camp was set in Las Vegas where they met all the superstars.
The young Anthony asked Jayson Tatum if he could beat his dad in his prime 1v1. Tatum replied by saying that he could beat Melo in his prime. Tatum showed great confidence and even mentioned that he could beat Melo 11-8.
Me. Yeah I give him 11-8 Jayson Tatum via Overtime
Tatum had a great last season with the Boston Celtics and averaged 26.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He was great both on offense and defense. Prime Carmelo Anthony was a beast and was one of the best scorers in the league during his time. He averaged 28.7 points and 6.9 rebounds in his prime year and won the scoring title. Tatum had finished 6th in last season’s MVP race while Melo was 3rd in the MVP race in his prime season.
While it will be a dream to see both of these superstars play each other in their prime. Arguments can be made by the NBA fans on who’s better but it’s impossible to prove anything. Both stars have many similarities and are the core units of their team.
Paul Pierce calls Jayson Tatum the best player on the stacked Team USA
Jayson Tatum came off a dominant season with the Boston Celtics. The duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were unstoppable together. Tatum will be a part of the stacked Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. One of the Celtics Legends, Paul Pierce had some bold statements regarding Tatum.
Paul Pierce stated that Jayson Tatum is the best player on the current roster of Team USA. Despite of knowing the Team also has veterans like LeBron James and Stephen Curry, Pierce chose Tatum. The conversation started after Team USA voted LeBron James as the best player on the team. Pierce didn’t agree with the voting and stated his thoughts.
Tatum had a great season overall with the Celtics and comparatively was better than both LeBron and Curry. While his team won the championship others didn’t manage to go far in the playoffs. Tatum still has many great years to come with a bright future.
