LAKE FOREST, IL — Jaylon Johnson isn’t just showing up at Bears training camp — he’s showing out.
Coming off a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2024, Johnson is entering a contract year with something to prove. And based on his fiery press conference and dominant reps against the Bears’ top receivers, the message is clear: he wants to be recognized as one of the league’s elite shutdown corners — now.
“I’m not here for talk, I’m here for results,” Johnson told reporters after batting down three passes in a row during red zone drills. “They’ll see this season.”
With rookie QB Caleb Williams throwing tighter spirals each day and veteran WRs like DJ Moore and Rome Odunze giving him all he can handle, Johnson is sharpening his skills against elite competition — and looking better than ever.
Insiders say Johnson has become a vocal leader in the secondary, helping bring rookie CB Tykee Smith up to speed and taking full command of the defensive backfield. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen called him “the tone-setter” of camp.
As the Bears rebuild continues under head coach Ben Johnson, Jaylon’s intensity and consistency might be the glue holding the defense together.
If this version of Johnson sticks around, don’t be surprised if the Bears have a top-10 defense — and he gets paid like one of the best.
