“Brittany needs to know this house needs to go on the market right now,” Taylor tells castmate Jesse Lally in the clip. “No woman needs a five-bedroom house [with] seven baths. You are a woman with a child. Get something like a three-bedroom that’s manageable as a woman.”
The couple separated in February 2024, with Cartwright opting to rent other homes for herself and their son, Cruz, while Taylor remained in the house. After spending time in a mental health facility, Taylor moved out and leased a place next to friend and “Vanderpump Rules” alum Tom Schwartz, freeing Cartwright to move back into the marital residence.
Brittany Says She’s Not Selling: “This Is My House”
In the June 10 episode, Cartwright revealed that Taylor “stopped paying the mortgage” after she moved out of their shared home following their split.
“He’s always paid the mortgage, and I’ve always paid all the bills,” she said, detailing their financial arrangement. “He was so far behind on his taxes before we got married, I think it was $1.2 million behind. He was going to go to jail if I didn’t allow him to put it on our house.”
She went on to say that their monthly mortgage doubled due to Taylor’s financial issues. “Our mortgage went from $8,000 to like, $17,000 right now because of his stuff,” Cartwright continued. “They even took $100,000 out of my bank account just because I was married to him. He got a lease at a condo without telling me as well, and now moving forward he wants me to take over the house completely.”
Despite Taylor’s push to list the home, Cartwright has made it clear she’s not ready to give it up. Speaking on the Feb. 7 episode of her podcast, she shared, “It is not going for sale anytime soon. This is another reason why I’m hustling, because I’m going to take care of my household and I’m going to take care of my son and I’m just very proud that I have been able to do all of this by myself. But yeah, this is my house. I’ve completely taken over everything and definitely not going to sell this baby anytime soon.”
Escalating Tensions
The former couple’s financial tensions have been a recurring issue this season, as have their disagreements about parenting and independence.
During a moment from the June 10 episode, Cartwright grows visibly concerned about the whereabouts of her wedding ring.
“I was like looking around the house to see if I could find my wedding and I don’t know where it is,” she says.
Co-star Janet Caperna quickly replies with a jab that hints at past issues between the exes: “Have you checked his eBay page recently?”
On the show’s After Show segment, Taylor explained that his decision to leave the house was part of his personal growth. “It’s tough. It’s not easy. You know, you’re trying to do the right thing. You’re trying to be a good parent. You’re trying to do the right moves here. The right steps. It’s just really overwhelming.”
