Jax Taylor may have declared himself a naysayer of divorce, but divorce is staring him in the face after his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, filed on August 27. The Vanderpump Rules star filmed a scene on The Valley saying making the marriage work was the only option when their marital issues were on clear display.
The bar owner also made the same statement in interviews as far back as March 2023. So the comments have not aged well, as of Tuesday this week. Jax and Brittany have been living separately since February 2024, but supposedly working on the relationship. Now, it’s clear that a serious decision has been made and Jax may not be in agreement with it.
Jax Taylor previously praised Brittany Cartwright as “the only one” who could manage him
The Valley star gave an exclusive interview with People in March 2023, in which he discussed the difficulties of maintaining a marriage. In his case, also dealing with rumors of infidelity.
“I don’t believe in divorce. My parents didn’t get divorced,” Jax said at the time. “I don’t believe in that. Marriage is work. I’m not saying every day is amazing.”
“There’s good days and there’s bad days, but that’s marriage, and that’s what makes your relationship stronger,” the VPR alum continued. “We love hard. We fight hard. It’s amazing.”
During the interview, Jax praised Brittany as the “only one” who was able to “put up” with his antics. He gushed about being “best friends” with his wife.
“We have a lot of fun with each other. I honestly can’t imagine my life with anybody else. Like I said, she’s the ying to my yang, a little,” he revealed.
Jax explained, “I’m a tough guy to be around, so it takes a certain person to deal with my crap. Even through all this, and even though my life is a lot better now, I’m still tough to handle. I think she’s the only one that can put up with me really.”
The Valley star had just completed a 30-day treatment to work on his mental health. He cited his son, Cruz, as the motivation to better himself.
