There is no bigger cheerleader for the Chicago Bears at present than safety Jaquan Brisker. He’s made his love for the organization evident all season, especially after getting sidelined with a concussion. His anguish at watching other teams play in the postseason has only furthered his determination to ensure the Bears get there in 2025. That will involve him returning healthy, which is already underway. It will also require upgrading the roster between now and training camp.
Obviously, Brisker doesn’t make those decisions. That responsibility lies with GM Ryan Poles and new head coach Ben Johnson. However, it appears the safety isn’t letting that stop him. Brisker is already laying the foundation of a recruitment pitch for one of the NFL’s best players.
He is referring to Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons. The 25-year-old is in the last year of his contract. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, there are serious rumblings that Dallas may consider trading him rather than giving up the market-setting money it would require to keep him.
Normally open with his opinions, the Cowboys’ 25-year-old superstar hasn’t said much of anything about the team’s promotion of Brian Schottenheimer after a surprise parting of ways with head coach Mike McCarthy — a move Parsons called “devastating.” While there have been no trade talks, sources say there have at least been some internal discussions about whether to pay Parsons or trade him for a king’s ransom. If the Cowboys are willing to listen, they may get it.
Brisker undoubtedly feels he has some sway with Parsons. The two were teammates in 2019 at Penn State. He knows what kind of game-changer the edge rusher can be. One must also not forget Parsons has a high opinion of the roster Chicago has built over the past couple of years.

If he can sway Parsons to come to Chicago, it would merely come down to whether Poles can put together a strong enough package to convince Dallas to make a deal. The Bears GM has yet to make a move of this magnitude. His biggest trades involved moving down from #1 overall in 2023 with Carolina and dealing 2nd round picks for Chase Claypool and Montez Sweat. There is no doubt acquiring Parsons would take two 1st round picks, likely more, not to mention a massive new contract.
A team would only do something like this if they feel they’re well-positioned to make a serious playoff run. The Bears can’t really make that argument. They went 5-12 this season and have several roster holes to address, particularly along the offensive line. Giving up multiple premium picks for Parsons would make that more difficult. It would likely come down to how much Ben Johnson and new offensive line coach Dan Roushar believe they can coach guys up. Jaquan Brisker has his heart in the right place, but this seems unlikely.
