Jameis Winston’s Unexpected Offseason Trip Turns Heads: ‘Needs a Camera Crew’

Jameis Winston has become one of the more likable personalities around the NFL community as he’s settled into a veteran role, and the New York Giants quarterback reminded everyone why that is again this week.

Connecting the Jameis Winston dots seems to make Giants' next QB move all too obvious

On July 11, Bucs and Nole Gameday founder Logan B. Robinson shared an update on the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers first-round pick. Which reported: “Jameis Winston and his family visited Rwanda, Africa to invest in the next generation and support local communities ❤️.”

In the accompanying video, which generated over 430,000 views and 9.4K likes, Winston is seen dancing along to a local chant and having a grand old time with the community he’s visiting. And considering the charismatic QB was just in San Diego with his NYG teammates a few days ago, it’s pretty awesome that he fit this family vacation into his busy schedule ahead of training camp.

Needless to say, fans were quick to comment on the unexpected journey across the ocean.

“He needs a camera crew with him 24/7,” one popular response read.

Another said: “Jameis doing his Father’s business: I love it 🫡.”

And a third simply appreciated what they were witnessing in the video, writing: “Black is beautiful.”

This post not only caught the attention of fans, however. An NFL insider even chimed in with some praise for Winston — and some advice for the Giants.

NFL Insider Says Giants Should Have Shown More Faith in Jameis Winston as a ‘Front-facing Leader of the Team’

In response to this video, veteran NFL insider Josina Anderson praised Winston for his offseason trip, while also adding a little note for the Giants organization.

“While many folks are in Turks & Caicos, Dubai, Tahiti, San Trope to courtside at Madison Square Garden, Broadway & weekly appearances on Network Sports talk shows, love to see this philanthropic energy from [Jameis Winston] during his offseason time,” Anderson voiced.

Adding: “I also think the Giants should have shown Winston more faith in being a front-facing leader of the team, especially with season-ticket holders & marketing materials. It’s all about having the infrastructure that knows how to relate, communicate & uplift the personnel you have to get the best out of everyone.”

“Discernment is a gift,” she finally concluded. Stating: “Anyways, good on you Jameis. Look forward to seeing how the Giants do.”

After a fan replied, noting that they “love Jameis and what he’s doing,” but don’t know why Anderson appeared to “slam the Giants” while praising his efforts, the insider made a clarification on her post.

“I’m not slamming them,” she explained. “I’m just stating something I would’ve like to see more. My thoughts on this are already well-documented.”

Cryptic comments aside, I think we can all agree that it’s good to see Winston using his platform to give back to communities all around the world, not just in America but in other countries, too.

Jameis Winston Faces Difficult Circumstances at Giants Training Camp

Unfortunately for Winston, he’s become a bit overshadowed in New York, given the presence of Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart.

Wilson is the presumptive starter heading into training camp, as well as a former Super Bowl champion quarterback, 10-time Pro Bowler, and potential Hall of Fame candidate someday.

While Dart is the new face of the franchise at the position. Well, that’s the hope, at least.

Obviously, that puts Winston in a precarious position as NFL teams don’t always choose to keep three quarterbacks on the roster.

In this scenario, it could make sense to buck that trend, considering Dart may not be ready to be thrust into a backup role right away. But Winston will likely have to earn the QB2 role if he wants to stick around in New York.
