Jaire Alexander can no longer run from Vikings after finally finding new team

For some fans, it was shocking when the Green Bay Packers released star cornerback Jaire Alexander. The 28-year-old defensive back has struggled to stay healthy, but he has a history of frustrating teams like the Minnesota Vikings.

Alexander and Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson have a great rivalry going on, and hopefully, that battle can continue to rage on now that the former Packers defender has found a new team for the 2025 NFL season.

On Wednesday, NFL Insider Adam Schefter announced on X that Jaire Alexander has signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens worth $6 million to join his college teammate, Lamar Jackson, despite getting bigger offers elsewhere.

For a player with the ceiling of Jaire Alexander, that is a great deal for the Ravens. If the young cornerback can stay healthy, he should help Baltimore continue to be one of the most intimidating teams in the league.

Interestingly enough, there are reports that the Minnesota Vikings were among the teams that inquired about Alexander's services for the upcoming year. KSTP and SKOR North's Darren Wolfson shared that news on X.

Alexander will still be wearing purple during the 2025 NFL season, but it will be in the AFC. He will have an opportunity to see the Vikings when the Ravens visit U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 10 for a noon game on November 9.

The Ravens game against Minnesota will mark Alexander's tenth game against the Vikings since joining the NFL as a first-round pick of the Packers in 2018. It would be pretty safe to assume that he will play a huge role in attempting to contain Justin Jefferson while facing young quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Although the Vikings could have used his experience in the secondary, the Vikings have Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers, Mekhi Blackmon, Dwight McGlothern, Jeff Okudah, and others ready to go at cornerback.

The decision to join the Ravens is even more interesting when you factor in that Baltimore has played the Vikings the second-least in NFL history. Minnesota has played the Houston Texans six times (winning them all) but has played Baltimore seven times (losing four of those matchups).

It's a bit of an anomaly for the Minnesota Vikings to play the Baltimore Ravens, but it is fitting that it is scheduled to happen this season, especially now that they have Jaire Alexander in their defense to face off against Justin Jefferson.
