Jaguars paying part of Cam Robinson's $16 million contract puts Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in Executive of the Year contention

Minnesota Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has done it again.

Not only did he acquire left tackle Cam Robinson for at worst a fourth-round pick that they could get back with the compensatory formula , Adofo-Mensah got the Jacksonville Jaguars to pay $7 million of Robinson's remaining salary

Adofo-Mensah loves to make trades and this is one of the best ones he's made to date. It's about maximizing your value, along with trying to maintain the same number of picks, which this trade has a chance to do based on the conditions.

Robinson will be owed approximately $2.6 million with around $600k in per-game roster bonuses included in that number. That puts the Vikings about $7 million under the salary cap. It's moves like these that separate Adofo-Mensah from the rest of the league and the fact that this team could begin their Super Bowl window in a season where most everyone thought they would finish last in the NFC North should catapult him to the top of the Executive of the Year voting.

Does this mean the Vikings are still going to be in the market to make another trade or two? It keeps them in contention for sure. They could continue to go big game hunting for someone like Jeffery Simmons or Dexter Lawrence. How they will go about it remains to be seen, but the possibility is still there.
