Vancouver Canucks fans can now take a long sigh of relief as they have finally got their first one of the season, and it comes at the hands of superstar forward J.T. Miller in overtime.
After going 0-1-2 to start the season, fans have been pretty hard on the team and players such as Elias Pettersson for how they have been underperforming, and their attitudes did not change when the Canucks were gearing up for their first road trip of the season when they have to face off against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
The performance was not perfect by any means but it was a step in the right direction, most notably for their forward group who played night and day then in the first 3 games.
J.T. Miller Wins it in Overtime
With 3:00 minutes remaining in overtime, with Vancouver leading in shots 31-28, J.T. Miller took over the puck with speed in the neutral zone made one move on the defense and roof home the overtime winner to give the team its first win of the season.
It would be unfair not to shout out Kevin Lankinen who played his heart out against the powerhouse Panthers. He faced 28 shots and stopped 26 to achieve a save percentage (S%) of 0.928. It seems that the Canucks have no choice to move forward with his as their starter until Thatcher Demko returns from his injury (Knee).
