The Philadelphia Eagles have done a decent job of stacking their quarterback room since 2020.

It's clear that the Eagles should add UFL star to fix team's biggest flaw

Since Jalen Hurts emerged as "QB1", Philadelphia has rostered quarterbacks like Gardner Minshew and Marcus Mariota. Last year, Kenny Pickett managed to look competent (at times) en route to a potential starting opportunity with the Cleveland Browns. This year, the Eagles are set to roster Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Tanner McKee, and 2025 NFL Draft pick Kyle McCord.

While "DTR" has plenty of experience (along with a 1:10 touchdown to interception ratio), and McKee impressed fans in his 89 snaps of play after spending 2023 as the Eagles "QB3", the Eagles could look for another option if they are looking to add a bit of competition in their quarterback room. While many may think adding a fifth quarterback to their roster isn't a priority, the need to upgrade the roster is always at the forefront of an NFL front office.

How Bryce Perkins can add some much-needed firepower to quarterback room

Coming off his UFL MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and All-UFL season is Michigan Panthers quarterback Bryce Perkins. A mobile, strong-armed quarterback out of the University of Virginia who was an undrafted free agent in 2020, and would spend three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, appearing in five games, while also earning a champion ring in 2021.

After spending 2023 out of football, Perkins joined the Michigan Panthers in late 2024, reuniting him with former Rams scout Steve Kazor. He took off in 2025 after former NFL head coach Mike Nolan opted to give him the starting reins. Perkins missed three games in 2025 due to an ankle injury, but still managed to be one of the UFL's best players and, by far, the most dynamic quarterback when on the field.

Perkins' skillset matches that of Hurts more accurately than the current backup quarterbacks on the roster. His ability to break tackles in the pocket, strong arm talent, and the "gamer" mentality with the game on the line could all be assets for Philadelphia if called upon. He's played more than Tanner McKee and has proven to be more effective in his opportunities than "DTR".

With expectations continuing to be extremely high in Philadelphia, and Hurts being a mobile quarterback, it'd be highly advantageous for the Eagles to consider bringing Perkins in for a workout and signing him. With McKee also still on a rookie deal, the Eagles could leverage the former Stanford quarterback to fill a position of need once training camp injuries set in.
