It only took 6 games for Caleb Williams to leave Justin Fields in the dust

Week 6 kicked off in London for the Chicago Bears, who were technically the home team in a matchup where the Jacksonville Jaguars certainly felt more accustomed to their surroundings.

Chicago Bears, Caleb Williams

Coming off two wins in a row, the Bears looked to make it three with a tilt against Jacksonville, who has played more games overseas than any other franchise. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was making his first international appearance, and not even that type of stage was enough to slow down the momentum from this year's no. 1 overall pick.

In typical Bears fashion, the offense got out to a slow start with just seven total yards in the first quarterback. However, when the second quarter got underway, Williams and the offense finally took off and cut things loose.

Aside from a single poor decision from Williams, which resulted in a bad interception, the rookie passer once again looked phenomenal. He got the Bears rolling in that second period with a pair of touchdown passes for tight end Cole Kmet, and the fun was only getting started from there.

After halftime, Williams tossed two more touchdowns en route to his first career four-touchdown performance, ending the game having gone 23-of-29 for 228 yards, four touchdowns and the lone interception. He also added 56 yards on four carries.

More Bears news:

In just his sixth start, Williams did something that not even his predecessor could do in an entire rookie season.

For those who might not remember (and we're sure all of you certainly do), Justin Fields got off to a rather dreadful start, passing the football, in that 2021 rookie campaign.

In Fields' rookie season, he made 12 starts and ended with seven passing touchdowns.

After Williams' sixth NFL start, he is now sitting with nine passing touchdowns -- and those have come in his past four games, alone.

Already, Williams has thrown two more passing touchdowns than Fields. This isn't a knock against the former Bears quarterback, rather a point to prove for those who might have still been on "Team Fields" to this point in time.

The Bears undoubtedly made the best decision by trading Fields and going with Williams. Furthering that point, Williams has already totaled 1,319 passing yards in six starts and should wind up passing Fields' rookie number of 1,870 within his next three or four games; and that's being generous.

Fields might be off to a feel-good story in Pittsburgh this year, but the Bears are clearly in a much better spot with Williams, now. If this is what we've seen in only six games, and Williams only going to improve from here on out, we're in for something special.
