It only took 3 games for Justin Fields to prove that Bears have a Matt Eberflus problem

CASE (probably) CLOSED.

Chicago Bears v Minnesota Vikings
Time to shut it down. The debate's over.

For the better part of two years, Bears fans were torn apart with infighting about Justin Fields and Matt Eberflus. Their offense was terrible, and it didn't seem like Fields was developing the way that franchise quarterbacks typically do. Nothing was getting better, and no one could figure out whether it was the flawed-but-electric quarterback or the defensive coordinator masquerading as a head coach. When the team announced that they were moving on with the former, the EberFans wasted no time running their victory lap.

Now, less than a month into their first season apart, said victory lap looks pretty dumb. The Bears haven't won since their season opener, and the new, Shane Waldron-inspired offense has looked anemic from the start. Caleb Williams somehow threw for the most yards of any NFL QB this season in a game where they only scored 16 points and looked awful for 3.95 quarters? It's been weird. Meanwhile, Justin Fields has the Steelers off to a 3-0 start and probably stole Russell Wilson's job in the process. Again, it's been weird.

Justin Fields is starting to look like a franchise QB for the Steelers

It seems like plenty of fans around the league are surprised to see this, but Bears fans know better. Bears fans saw this coming from a mile away. The organization is truly cursed in a way that no football coach is prepared for – even just putting the Bears' uniform on automatically makes a QB 45% worse. It's true*, they did studies on it (*maybe). And while Fields hasn't exactly been lighting up the box score, 3-0 kinda speaks for itself. Everyone thought this was going to be the season that Mike Tomlin Steelers finally finished with a losing record, and three weeks later it sure looks like they're going to finish September as the only undefeated team in the NFL.

There's absolutely a Steelers-Bears game coming in the next few years where Fields has a career day while Eberflus watches his job security melt away right in front of his face. Bears fans know that game well. The good news is that Williams flahes more than enough to avoid real panic. He may not end up having the transcendent rookie season that a lot of people expected, but he's shown enough to keep Bears fans excited. The bad news is that he's being coached by Matt Eberflus. And as Justin Fields is proving, that's a real problem.
