LAKE FOREST, IL — While all eyes are on rookie QB Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offensive rebuild, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is quietly crafting a dominant training camp that has coaches buzzing and teammates inspired.
After a solid debut year in Chicago, Edmunds has leveled up in 2025 — flying across the field, reading plays before they happen, and emerging as a clear vocal leader. With new defensive packages being installed under coordinator Dennis Allen, insiders say Edmunds looks unstoppable in the middle of the field.
“His instincts are freakish right now,” one defensive assistant shared. “He’s not just reacting — he’s dictating.”
And it's not just practice hype. Edmunds picked off Caleb Williams during red zone drills twice this week, drawing roars from the defense and cheers from fans at camp. His chemistry with rookie pass rusher Austin Booker is also drawing early comparisons to some of Chicago’s great linebacker tandems.
As the Bears aim to return to defensive dominance, Edmunds might just be the glue holding it all together — and if his camp performance is any indication, the rest of the NFL should be on high alert.
