Insider Shares His Concern Level With The Vancouver Canucks Amid Tough Stretch

An NHL insider has shared his concern level with how the Vancouver Canucks are playing amid a tough stretch over the last ten days, which includes three losses.

The rollercoaster of a season that the Vancouver Canucks are having has been frustrating for fans, especially after what the club was able to do last season - winning the Pacific Division and making it to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Since returning home from their three-game road trip in California, the Vancouver Canucks have a record of 2-3-0, with two of those losses coming against an injury-riddled New York Islanders and a Nashville Predators team that was dead-last in the NHL standings heading into Sunday, which led to benching of one of the team's leaders - J.T. Miller.

With their recent struggles, there has been some concern from the fan base, but one NHL insider doesn't seem too worried about the Vancouver Canucks, at least not right now.

Frank Seravalli not too concerned with the Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks were one of the topics of discussion on Monday's edition of Daily Faceoff Live, where NHL insider Frank Seravalli said if he had to place his concern on a scale of 1-to-10 regarding the club, he'd be at a 3. Seravalli stressed that it's still early, they have some breathing room and that that Canucks are on pace for 102 points this season.

'My level of concern is probably a 3 out of 10. I'm sure Canucks fans are watching this saying 'Is this guy blind? Does he watch any Canucks hockey? What's wrong with him? Doesn't he see the issues that are in front of us?'

Yes I do, but this is also a Canucks team that, at this exact point in time, has afforded itself a little bit of breathing room. They're second in the division in points percentage, they're on track for 102 points, they've got a 9-5-3 record to this point in time. And it's not like they've been totally lost all season long.' Seravalli said.

It's understandable to see why the fans are frustrated, but like Frank Seravalli mentions, it's early and the Canucks are still in a good position. Every year, American Thanksgiving, which falls on November 28th in 2024, gives fans a look at who are most likely going to be playoff teams. Between the 2005-06 and 2022-23 seasons (aside from 2019-20 or 2020-21), 184 of the 240 teams (76.7%) in a playoff spot at American Thanksgiving went on to clinch a berth in the post-season.

Tomorrow's game against a tough New York Rangers squad will provide Rick Tocchet's group an opportunity to get back into the win column and wrap up their six-game homestand on a positive note.
