Insider says there's zero chance Steelers trade up for one 2025 QB prospect

The Steel City hype behind the Pittsburgh Steelers drafting Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft has never been higher — but one insider is warning fans not to believe the move will actually happen.

With Panthers GM Dan Morgan admitting that Carolina would be open to trading back from the No. 8 pick in the draft, and the Saints almost certainly set to select Sanders with the No. 9 pick, some fans have suggested the Steelers leapfrog New Orleans — but insider Gerry Dulac slammed the door shut on the move: “Not happening.”

During Wednesday’s Steelers chat on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dulac was asked what the odds were that the Steelers would consider trading up for Sanders: “Zip.” He so eloquently responded. “He’s not for them, is my opinion,” and “They are not going to reach for him,” were his answers to several other Sanders-related questions.

Dulac has previously reported several accurate pieces of behind-the-scenes Steelers information, such as the Aaron Rodgers meeting in Pittsburgh. And while all information should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed — fans hoping the Steelers trade up for Sanders may want to tune out during Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
