Insider Reveals Giants in Play for Massive Draft Trade

In one week, the New York Giants managed to fill their quarterback room with two veteran passers who insulate the offense and give general manager Joe Schoen the best shot to keep his job.

However, as urgent as Schoen's win-now offseason looks, the 2025 NFL Draft will be a more honest examination of his priorities. Will he look to add a blue-chip prospect like Colorado corner/receiver Travis Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter to win as many games as possible in the coming season, or does he have enough faith to take a rookie quarterback who won't see the field immediately?

Playing into that equation is New York's standing. At No. 3 – with two quarterback-needy teams picking first – it seems like Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is the favorite to head to East Rutherford.

That is, unless the Tennessee Titans pivot off their presumed plan to draft Miami's Cam Ward.

According to Adam Schefter, the Giants could propose a "compelling" trade for the class' top quarterback.

"I expect the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants both to make calls and let's see if there's a team that can come up with an offer that the Titans can't pass up," Schefter said on NFL Live. "Yes, the Titans absolutely do like Cam Ward. Yes, they're ready to take him. But these teams have one month to change Tennessee's mind and make an offer compelling enough to move Tennessee, which has a ton of holes on its roster, off the No. 1 pick."

Competing with Cleveland won't make life any easier for New York, but if Schoen is head-over-heels for Ward, any price could be seen as justifiable.

Admittedly, the room would be very crowded. Russell Wilson expects to start, and Jameis Winston didn't sign on for two years of strictly second-string quarterbacking. Perhaps that makes 2025 a redshirt for any rookie quarterback, and there's reason to believe Ward's inconsistencies warrant one.

However, this titanic move would have real repercussions. It can be seen as a multi-year commitment to Schoen's administration, and if not, his replacement would be left without ample draft capital, teeing the Giants up for another rudderless rebuild.

Instantly, Ward would become one of the most pivotal players in the sport, a prospect burdened with the expectations of saving a franchise and the face of the general manager that would have traded for him.

At this point, any kind of deal is unlikely. Until Ward holds a Titans jersey on April 24, though, Schoen will have the opportunity to flip the football world on its head.
