Insane Baltimore Ravens – Seattle Seahawks Trade Proposed By Journalist (Report)

The Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks will be going into the 2024 season looking to get back to the post-season.  While Seattle missed the playoffs in 2023, they finished with the same record as the Green Bay Packers (9-8) who clinched the final wild card spot.

Baltimore finished the 2023 regular season as the #1 seed in the AFC and had expectations of reaching the Super Bowl.  Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, however, spoiled that dream.

Baltimore may need more firepower in order to finally get over the hump that is the Chiefs.  One journalist seems to think that move is well on the way.

According to Marissa Myers of TWSN:Ezoic

With the NFL offseason comes predictions and bold takes. That specifically happens with trades that could happen before the season or the deadline. With that in mind, DK Metcalf becomes an intriguing trade option, and if he is traded, it will be to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens are in a spot right now where they have immense pressure on them entering the 2024 season. They have a talented quarterback in Lamar Jackson, but if they can’t make it all the way after making it to the AFC Championship Game, questions would start to rise surrounding John Harbaugh.

Zay Flowers emerged as the top wide receiver for the Ravens last season, but with that, it will allow defenses to focus more heavily on Flowers and limit him. Without Flowers, Jackson still has Mark Andrews to throw to, but for this offense to maximize its full potential they need a superstar receiver. Getting a big-bodied receiver that Jackson can rely on at all times is truly what the Baltimore offense is missing.

With Metcalf, he becomes the ideal receiver to fit that mold. Metcalf is just 26 and coming off back-to-back 1,000-plus yard seasons with a combined 14 touchdowns. He can go up and box out defenders at the catch point, while being a downfield and over the middle of the field threat for Jackson to throw it to and rely on to come down with the ball. His skills paired with Flowers would be the duo Baltimore needs to ensure they don’t face the same outcome they did last year.

For the Seattle Seahawks it may seem crazy to trade a star receiver like Metcalf, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. Right now, the Seahawks have just $1,616,170 to work with in cap space via Over The Cap. Trading Metcalf would clear $13,000,000, and with a new regime having that space would be ideal to structure the team they way they want. That is another factor in this, the Mike Macdonald factor. With Macdonald coming from Baltimore there is that relation, and it would be to an out of conference team.

It would honestly be shocking to see Seattle move on from DK Metcalf.

During his first five NFL seasons, Metcalf has recorded 1,000 yards in three of them, and last year he added 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns. Two-time Pro Bowler will take on a $24.5 million cap hit in 2024, followed by a $29.5 million hit in 2025.

Seattle has made it clear he will be part of their long-term plans.  It would take a shocking trade package to lure him out of Seattle.
