“I don’t think AI writing should be banned” – Gia Giudice gets a lot of flak after controversial statement when Andy Cohen questioned cheating on college entrance exams

Gia Giudice is no stranger to public scrutiny. As the eldest daughter of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and a frequent figure in the Bravo universe, Gia has grown up in the spotlight. But this week, she found herself at the center of a brand-new controversy – and this time, it has nothing to do with family feuds or table-flipping drama.

During a recent appearance on a Bravo Watch What Happens Live segment hosted by Andy Cohen, Gia was asked about rumors circulating online that she had received unusually high scores on a recent college exam. Cohen, always the provocateur, posed the question with his signature smirk: “Gia, there’s been talk about you using artificial intelligence to write a few of your college essays. What’s the real story?”

Gia’s response, delivered with an unsettling mix of confidence and naiveté, sent the internet into meltdown.

“I don’t think AI writing should be banned,” she said. “Everyone’s using it. I mean, I used ChatGPT to help structure one of my essays. That’s not cheating. That’s just being efficient.”

The crowd inside the studio let out a collective gasp. Andy, caught visibly off guard, tried to soften the moment with a nervous chuckle, but the damage was already done. Within minutes, clips of Gia’s statement were circulating on X, Reddit, TikTok, and Instagram with captions like “Nepo Baby Energy” and “The Face of Gen Z Entitlement.”

By the next morning, the phrase "I don't think AI writing should be banned" was trending across social media. A wave of backlash followed swiftly, as students, educators, and fellow Bravo-lebrities began chiming in.

“She basically just admitted to academic dishonesty on national television,” one TikTok commentator said in a video that has now racked up over 2 million views. “Imagine being this brazen about cutting corners in school and then trying to spin it as ‘efficiency.’”

Even more damning, a series of screenshots surfaced showing Gia previously posting on a now-deleted Finsta account about “using ChatGPT to finish a 2,000-word paper in under 30 minutes.” One post, dated last semester, included a winking emoji and the caption “Thank u, robot overlords.”

Adding fuel to the fire, a student at Gia’s university spoke anonymously to Page Six, claiming that her work had “always seemed too polished for her speaking level in class” and that “professors have quietly suspected AI use in some cases, but no one wanted to be the first to accuse a Giudice.”

The university in question has not issued an official statement but is reportedly reviewing its academic policies after “a wave of public concern over high-profile AI misuse.” Sources close to the administration say internal conversations are ongoing about whether Gia’s statement constitutes a breach of student integrity guidelines.

Meanwhile, Teresa Giudice, never one to stay silent for long, rushed to her daughter’s defense in an Instagram story that read, “People always want to tear down someone who is trying to succeed. Gia is smart. Don’t let them dim your light.”

But public opinion remains largely unsympathetic. “Being smart doesn’t mean outsourcing your education to a machine,” one user fired back. Another wrote, “If you can’t write your own thoughts, you shouldn’t be in college – much less bragging about it.”

Some Bravo fans have called on the network to distance itself from Gia in future RHONJ appearances, while others argue that this scandal is a perfect storyline for a spin-off focused on the next generation of Housewives kids. As one fan put it bluntly, “Gia just gave Bravo their next plot twist – and it’s straight out of Black Mirror.”

Despite the mounting criticism, Gia has not issued a formal apology or clarification. Instead, she posted a selfie the day after the interview with the caption, “They talk, I focus. #Unbothered.” But even that has sparked further debate, with many accusing her of doubling down on arrogance rather than showing remorse.

Whether this scandal will blow over or balloon into something larger remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: in an era where AI ethics, academic integrity, and celebrity entitlement are colliding more frequently than ever, Gia Giudice has become the face of a very complicated conversation.

And this time, even Andy Cohen didn’t see it coming.
