Howie Roseman and Eagles are going to hate the latest Myles Garrett news

The Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman are not going to like the latest Myles Garrett news update.

It was reported just a few days ago that the Eagles had a very "real" interest in adding Garrett to their roster, but that won't be happening after all.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns and Garrett agreed on a contract extension on Sunday that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money, which makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

"From trade to truce and beyond: the Browns and Myles Garrett reached agreement today on a record contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money and now makes him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, sources tell ESPN. Garrett’s agent, Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports and Browns GM Andrew Berry finalized the deal today," Schefter wrote on X.

Garrett is officially locked into Cleveland through 2030.

What makes this news a bit surprising is that Garrett had originally requested a trade on Feb. 3, where he made it very clear that he wanted to join a Super Bowl-winning team. That just goes to show that money talks.

Garrett finished the 2024 NFL season racking up a league-best 83 total pressures from 477 pass-rush snaps, including 13 QB hits and 56 QB hurries. He also recorded 14 sacks, which made him the only player in NFL history with 14 or more sacks in four straight seasons.

While this update may have potentially botched the Eagles' original plan to snag Garrett, Roseman will more than likely have another trick up his sleeve (or several) once the NFL free agency window opens on Monday, March 10.
