The Houston Texans are off to a great start in 2024 after winning their first two games of the season. The team added more veterans to their squad this offseason, including wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon. Both players have already been producing for their new team, which has led to some questions regarding the future of some other players on the roster. One of these players is running back Dameon Pierce, who has shown that he can be a solid starter in the backfield.
The Texans are predicted to trade Pierce to the Las Vegas Raiders before the trade deadline since they have Mixon and Cam Akers taking all of the snaps on offense. The Raiders currently have Zamir White and Alexander Mattison in their backfield, and it has not worked out for them so far.
Why the Raiders Make Sense
While the issues with Las Vegas’ run game lie within the offensive line, if they can stay competitive up until the trade deadline, they could be looking to add more star power where needed. Pierce was able to rush for 939 yards as a rookie and still has the potential to shine as a starter in the NFL.
While this trade suits both teams, other squads that could be interested in the young running back are the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Cincinnati Bengals. Where do you think Pierce will end up, and will he be able to establish himself as a starting running back in the league?
