Houston Texans offense is breaking records despite being in such a poor drought

The Houston Texans seem to have a much worse offense this year than the one they had last year. And, that's not really okay, considering this is the second year in the same system, but they added better weapons over the offseason. Sure, Stefon Diggs is out for the year with a torn ACL, but at the same time, the offense was bad before he was hurt.

They have dealt with some pretty crazy injuries, but the scheme and playcalling also haven't helped what they have done on the field on that side of the ball as well. The offense just hasn't been good, and the eye test will tell you that, never mind the numbers.

But, they have been good enough, yes, good enough, to break one record. Here is what the Texans PR team tweeted out during the game against the Tennessee Titans last week, where their offense, yes offense, scored them points, and did so in a fashion that has now been done the most in NFL history:

K Ka'imi Fairbairn has now connected on 12 50-plus yard field goals this season, the most in a single season in NFL history, passing Daniel Carlson (11 in 2022).

Yes, that is part of the offense, because one, they are scoring points, which is what the offense does, and two, how do special teams get in field goal position? The offense drives down the field. For them to have passed that mark is very impressive nonetheless.

And, sure, the offense still stinks, especially as of late with a bad loss to the Titans, but their special teams have been good, and that's certainly something to hang your hat on.

The Texans will play the Jacksonville Jaguars next before they play the Miami Dolphins after a bye week.
