The Houston Texans needed a full team effort to get their big win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. They are now 6-2 on the year, and looking like one of the best teams in the entire NFL, not just the AFC.
That win easily puts them as the best team in the AFC South, as they are now two games ahead of the Colts in the standings, who are the second team in the AFC South.
The other two teams are not ones to be worried about, as the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans are dumpster fires, currently. And, the Texans have now swept the Colts in the season. As they posted on Twitter earlier, they have "cleaning out the staLL."
There isn't really one area of this team that deserves all of the credit. Everyone ate, as the kids said. But, if there was a unit I would have to give the game ball to, it would have to be the defense. They played lights off and got contributions from everyone.
The stars played well, and that's what they're going to do. But the role players all played great, too. One in particular, pretty much made franchise history.
Here is what the Texans tweeted about the insanely good first half of football that Eric Murray played, in which the safety did what few have in the deep steel blue.
In the first half, S Eric Murray recorded three passes defensed, tied for the most by any player in a first half this season and tied for the second-most a player has had in a first half in franchise history.
The Texans are getting help from everyone, and that's what good teams do. They make role players look like studs when they need them most. In this case, it was Murray, who was playing amazing.
The Texans now have three straight primetime games. Next is the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Then the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. And then the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.
