“He’s On Pace To Return”: New York Giants Andrew Thomas Potential X-Factor For the 2025 NFL Season (Report)

New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas only played in six games during the 2024 NFL season. Thomas is looking to return on time to begin the 2025 NFL season and stay healthy all season long.

When he is healthy, the Giants offensive line unit looks a lot better. Thomas was the fourth overall pick from the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2020 NFL Draft. New York needs the offensive line unit to perform well in 2025 in order for the offense to operate better than it has been over the last couple of years.

Jordan Raanan of espn.com covers the Giants and he listed Thomas as the X-Factor for this team for the upcoming 2025 NFL season. Raanan said about him,

“We’ve seen it the past two seasons — the Giants without Thomas are in trouble, having gone 3-14 without him. Thomas is currently on the physically unable to perform list after Lisfranc surgery on his foot last year. Fortunately for the Giants, he’s on pace to return for their Week 1 game at Washington, according to a league source. New York also has more depth on its offensive line this season.”

Other than Thomas projected to start at left tackle, Jon Runyan will be at left guard, John Michael Schmitz Jr. will be at center, Greg Van Roten will be at right guard, and Jermaine Eluemunor will be at right tackle.

Evan Neal and Marcus Mbow have also looked good during the preseason for the Giants and they could be valuable backups this season for them if injuries do occur for this team. The potential ceiling for the Giants this season is 9-8 and there floor is a 4-13 record. If New York’s offensive line can finally do well this season and stay healthy, the offense can finally score a bunch of points and win more games than they have over the course of the last two seasons also.
