Here’s where Alabama basketball ranks in new AP poll heading into SEC tournament

March Madness nears, and the SEC Tournament is this week. Alabama men’s basketball will soon learn of its postseason fate from the NCAA tournament committee. But for now, the latest AP poll rankings reveal where the Crimson Tide stacks up.

Alabama moved up to No. 5 in the AP poll released Monday. Meanwhile, Auburn fell to No. 3.

The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 7 heading into the week against Florida and Auburn. Then Alabama lost to Florida at home before closing the regular season with a 93-91 overtime victory over the Tigers at Neville Arena this past Saturday. Auburn was ranked No. 1 heading into the matchup.

Alabama is preparing to play in the SEC Tournament this week as the No. 3 seed. The Crimson Tide will play either No. 6 seed Kentucky or No. 11 seed Georgia or No. 14 seed Oklahoma on Friday, likely around 8:30 p.m. CT in Nashville.

Georgia and Oklahoma will play Wednesday. Then the winner will advance to face Kentucky. The winner of Kentucky vs. Georgia/Oklahoma will play Alabama on Friday.
