Here's How Bucs Can Avoid Shocking Upset vs. Commanders In Playoffs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Washington Commanders at Raymond James Stadium, with Todd Bowles' team looking to book their spot in the Divisional Round.

But Dan Quinn's unit won't be no pushovers, having a 12-5 regular season record along with being one of the best running teams in football.

As we know, playoff football is a different beast, and every snap is meaningful, mistakes are punished, and the pressure reaches levels not seen in the regular season.

For Bowles, he knows what his team - a 3-point favorite here - must do if they are to keep their season alive against Washington and avoid a shocking upset.

“I think you got to take care of the football, got to be able to run it, and you got to stop the run,” Bowles said. “You got to limit the mistakes, the penalties, those things all come down to it at the end. If you can do those things, you have a chance of winning the football game.”

The Buccaneers' turnover differential is -5, the 20th-best in the NFL, so it isn't ideal, but they are one of the best teams at running the football, averaging 149.2 yards per game (fourth).

Defensively, Tampa Bay is good at stopping the run, only allowing 97.8 yards per game, so its game is in pretty good shape heading into Sunday night.

Ultimately, winning the turnover margin will be pivotal to the outcome of the game, as the Buccaneers will not want to give Jayden Daniels and Co. extra possessions because they can run the football and shorten the game.

The Buccaneers know the blueprint for winning - let's see if they can follow it.
