Heather & Meredith Spar on After Show Over Bronwyn’s Husband: “I Stand F-cking Behind It”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's Heather Gay and Meredith Marks may be besties, but the latter 'Wife is not on Heather's side when it comes to her viewpoint about Bronwyn Newport's marriage.

In fact, Meredith and Heather went back and forth while discussing the topic — more specifically, that Bronwyn and her husband Todd Bradley do not have a prenup — on the Oct. 30 episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show.

Heather, for her part, argued that Bronwyn was wrong to be upset that she and a few of the other ladies had questioned her lack of a prenup because Bronwyn herself "had made a bevy of jokes" about her marriage.

"She had brought all of these issues to the group, had made a hundred jokes about him, and then, like, took me to task for commenting on it or having an opinion about it," Heather told Meredith on the After Show. "And you, with your legal background, know for someone with such an age disparity and such a wealth disparities, prenups are a common practice..."

Meredith's response? Much to Heather's surprise, she said, "Yes and no."

"There are a lot of reasons when it's more advantageous to have one, and there are a lot of reasons where it's more advantageous not to have one," explained Meredith. "If everything is a pre-marital asset and tied up, you don't even want a prenup."

Still, Heather wasn't convinced. Addressing Todd's career history, she said, "You say you're a trader at Goldman Sachs, you talk that you're this intellectual guru, and then you just marry for love? I feel like that's a mixed message."

"Well, I don't understand. Being smart and driven doesn't mean you can marry for love? What are you saying?" replied Meredith.

"No, you can't," joked Heather. "It means you're a fool."

When Meredith told her she might want to revise that statement, she said no way: "I stand f-cking behind it."

Why was Bronwyn Newport upset with Heather Gay?

In her own interview on the RHOSLC After Show, Bronwyn explained that she doesn't necessarily get mad when people joke about her marriage to Todd. She did, however, take issue with the way Heather talked about her husband.

"I joke about people's assumption that I'm a gold digger or a trophy wife all the time, mostly because it just disarms the situation. I kind of lead with that always, and then I assume it's done and we're over it because I've already made a joke," Bronwyn explained. "Where I think I started to get so upset with Britani [Bateman] and Heather is, to call me a gold digger is not that funny and not that original and gets tired, but I thought that the continued talk about prenup and whatever else starts edging it away from me and edging it into 'Todd is stupid.' And I just don't really tolerate a lot of disrespect for Todd."

She continued: "So to say he was stupid for not having a prenup, and then when I called Heather on that saying, 'No, I'm supporting women having a prenup,' it's what I see Heather doing where she gets caught doing something too far and tries to twist it."

Ultimately, Bronwyn just wanted Heather to apologize during their sit-down on Episode 7. "Just say 'I see why it bothered you.' Anything! She wasn't going to give me anything," said Bronwyn.

Why wasn't Heather Gay invited to Bronwyn's Palm Springs trip?

Bronwyn explained on the RHOSLC After Show, "This is an anniversary trip, and I felt like Heather asking about my prenup in a very calculated way felt like she was talking badly about my marriage. And we needed to clear that before she celebrated my anniversary."

As fans are surely aware, Heather and Bronwyn failed to do so during their Episode 7 sit-down.

Heather Gay's reaction to not being invited to Bronwyn's Palm Springs trip

Heather noted on the RHOSLC After Show that it felt like Bronwyn was "picking and choosing" what she wanted to be upset with her about ... if only to justify the fact that she was "never" going to invite her on the Palm Springs trip.

"She wanted it to be a couple's trip and she wanted a way to do that without having her hands dirty," Heather said. "She wanted to hurt my feelings and create a huge divide between us, and she did just that. Don't plan a girls trip with the people I'm closest to and then tell me it's my fault I'm not included."
