The Miami Heat will suspend Jimmy Butler for two games after Butler missed a team flight on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Heat left for Milwaukee ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Bucks on Wednesday afternoon, and Butler had plans to join the Heat on Wednesday night. This suspension keeps Butler away from the team during this two-game road trip.
This is the latest development of a saga that saw the Phoenix Suns trade an unprotected 2031 first to the Utah Jazz for three, less-favorable first-round picks on Tuesday night.
According to multiple reports, there is a growing sentiment in Miami that Phoenix’s picks deal brings the Suns a step closer to completing a trade for Butler.
It’s possible that with this suspension that Butler has played his last game for the Heat. His next possible game would be Monday, Jan. 7 against the Orlando Magic at Kaseya Center.
Butler had been suspended for seven games from Jan. 6-15 for conduct detrimental to the team. He will now miss his eighth and ninth games due to suspension this month.
The NBA trade deadline in 3 p.m. on Feb. 6.
