‘He Doesn’t Have A Future’: Seattle Seahawks Urged To Trade Away Running Back

The Seattle Seahawks traded away wide receiver DK Metcalf this offseason. Now, they’re being urged to do away with another skilled player on the offense before the upcoming season.

Matt Holder of Bleacher Report thinks the time has come for the Seahawks to part ways with Kenneth Walker III before his contract season.

“Walker is entering a contract year and has had declining production since his rookie season,” Holder wrote. “Meanwhile, Zach Charbonnet was more efficient in 2024, averaging half a yard more per carry than Walker. Also, Damien Martinez has the makings of being a steal as a seventh-round pick.

“The Seahawks might want to see how the running backs look in training camp before being completely comfortable making a move. But, especially if he doesn’t have a future with the club, getting something for the 2022 second-round pick wouldn’t be a bad idea.”

Walker, 24, was selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2022 draft. He earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors for a season in which he rushed for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns in 228 attempts in 2022.

His numbers declined in 2023, when he rushed for 905 yards and eight touchdowns. Walker was still productive getting to the end zone last season when he scored seven touchdowns, but he added just 542 yards on 145 carries (3.7 yards per rush).

Still, he’s been decent as a receiver, recording 94 receptions for 695 yards and one touchdown during his three seasons in the league.

As running backs start to become injured in the preseason, the Seahawks should find a market for a Day 3 pick for Walker.
