Haason Reddick to Join Atlanta Falcons in Free Agency

At 30 years old, Haason Reddick is no longer the superstar he once was. Reddick played one season with the New York Jets but is now set to hit free agency in 2025.

After a holdout with the Jets, Reddick came back and played 10 games in 2024. In that time, Reddick was only able to muster one sack.

Reddick is clearly on the decline, but if the Atlanta Falcons can get a few more years of solid production from him, it could push them into contention.

Haason Reddick Free Agency Outlook

As a 30-year-old veteran, it would make no sense for Reddick to stay with the Jets. For one, Reddick clearly doesn’t want to stay with the team even if their timelines match. Going back to the fact that Reddick held out last year, there’s clearly some tension between the two sides.

That’s just my prediction based on the buzz I’ve seen from a number of Jets insiders. The fact that the Jets aren’t contenders is a bit more objective. With the Jets going 5-12 last year, it looks like the team is entering a rebuild. This idea is further backed by the Jets deciding to “officially inform Aaron Rodgers they’re moving in [a] different direction at QB.”

Joining the Atlanta Falcons

Prior to a rough 2024 season, Reddick was still impressive at 29 years old. With the Eagles, Reddick had 11 sacks in 2023 and 16 sacks in 2022. It’s not unrealistic at all to assume that Reddick still has some juice left in him.

It would make a ton of sense for the Falcons to sign Reddick and boost their pass rush. The defense as a whole allowed the ninth most points per game with 24.9 last season. Reddick could take the place of David Onyemata, who had a down 2024 season. Onyemata had an 83.3 PFF grade in 2023, but that dropped to 66.2 in 2024. Either way, if the Falcons can land Reddick, he’ll have a spot on the line.

The move would make a ton of sense for both parties. Reddick is a veteran who should want to sign with a contender. After going 8-9 last year due to poor quarterback play, many expect the Falcons to make that leap with Michael Penix Jr at the helm. If Reddick can provide a spark to this defense, the Falcons could be a dangerous force in 2025.
