Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer can stay, but I’m not sold on Alabama being the best team in the country just yet.
There’s still plenty of work to be done with that defense.
Those who came to Tuesday’s column on the SEC seeking rat poison for Alabama will find none here. The Crimson Tide’s defense allowed Georgia and its questionable quarterback to score 34 points over the final three quarters of Saturday’s instant classic at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Tennessee appears to have the best defense in the SEC and Kentucky held Georgia to 13 points. Alabama remains a work in progress.
Albeit an extremely enjoyable and otherworldly talented work in progress.
I mean, if the goal is to “kill everybody,” as the eye black worn by receiver Ryan Williams clearly stated during Alabama’s 41-34 victory against the Dawgs, then Alabama isn’t anywhere close to a finished product.
