Golden State Warriors eye Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler in post Klay Thompson-era rebuild, NBA insider says

The Golden State Warriors witnessed the breakup of Klay Thompson from the Splash Brothers. Unsurprisingly, most fans saw this coming. Now his departure has made the Warriors weak and with no proper arrival made, a vacuum has been created as a result.

However, touted to replace the void is Miami Heat veteran, Jimmy Butler, who has been identified as the ideal star replacement according to NBA insider, Sam Amick . Butler has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason as his future with the Heat remains uncertain.

Jimmy Butler's going to be a free agent next summer. Didn't get an extension done. The Warriors have interest there and probably made a couple calls [to Miami] this summer. Sam Amik on the TK Show

This report comes as a shock to fans as Butler had been previously reported to eye a move to the Brooklyn Nets. But in the NBA anything is possible, especially for a player like Butler, who once teased Lakers fans when he was seen wearing their jersey. Interestingly, LeBron James of the Lakers had agreed to a pay cut for signing Thompson. However, the latter joined the Mavericks and James signed a supermax contract instead.

Furthermore, with the departure of long-serving Thompson, the Warriors need a star to complement Steph Curry, and the potential arrival of Butler has got the fans excited. Butler has the experience needed as he has spent the last five years with the Miami Heat. There he averaged 21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, while also leading the team to two NBA Finals appearances.

Jimmy Butler seriously considering Brooklyn Nets move

Despite recent rumors linking him to the Golden State Warriors as potential replacement for Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler is seriously considering teaming up with the Brooklyn Nets instead. This is according to a report by veteran Nets fan, NetsDaily who made an appearance on the Brooklyn Pod to shed his insight on the rumors.

On the podcast, he claimed that Butler’s head is turned towards the Nets as a result of a potential reunion with former teammate, Ben Simmons. This report has made free agency of 2025, an interesting period as fans would be interested to know where next he plays for.

I can't get into details for a number of reasons, Jimmy Butler’s interest in the Brooklyn Nets is very, very real. Part of it is New York, part of it is that Bernie Lee — who is Ben Simmons' agent, is very happy with how his client has been dealt with by the Nets. Nets Daily on the Jimmy Butler to Brooklyn Nets rumor

However, fans who know too well, find this surprising as Butler and Simons didn’t get along very well during their time together at the Philadelphia 76ers. But as the Heats are unwilling to give Butler a max extension, it’s a free for all season for his signature and may the best team win.
