The New York Giants are likely to undergo some big changes this offseason, especially with a handful of players set to hit free agency.
Some players could be brought back as general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll both return despite a disastrous 14-loss season — the most in franchise history.
Other players could opt to hit free agency for greener pastures. One of them is wide receiver Darius Slayton, whose six-year tenure with New York is likely to come to an end this offseason.
It will be interesting to see what Slayton's free agency market will look like but if it's anything close to what Spotrac is projecting, he's unlikely to return to East Rutherford.
Spotrac's current projections entering the offseason have Slayton earning a two-year, $31.72 million deal. That would rank 23rd among all NFL wide receivers.
That seems a bit high for a player who has never topped 770 receiving yards in a season. However, Slayton has proven to be a viable ancillary piece in the right environment.
The Giants need to figure out their quarterback position before signing receivers to deals worth $15 million per season and with Malik Nabers leading the charge, they can afford to look elsewhere outside of re-signing Slayton.
NFL free agency doesn't officially begin until the middle of March so we'll be waiting a long time before it's revealed what kind of market Slayton has.
