Giants Rookie QB Catches Attention With New Post on Wednesday

One of the names to watch this summer as NFL teams kick off training camps is Jaxson Dart. The former Ole Miss quarterback just turned 22 and is ready to make his mark in professional football.

The New York Giants selected Dart with the 25th overall pick, trading up from the early second round to secure him late in the first.

With spring camps getting underway, Dart is making plans to head to New York as he prepares for the upcoming season.

On Wednesday, he posted a photo of himself in a Giants uniform on social media. The post quickly grabbed fans’ attention and sparked a wave of excitement about the new quarterback in town.

Here’s how some fans responded:

"Just give my King the Gold Jacket already, i’ve seen enough."

"Jackson ‘Aura’ Dart 🎯"

"My guy 🔥🔥."

"You haven’t played a snap yet but I love you."

"DartLife Stadium."

"No QB in the league has more aura than you QB1😮‍💨😮‍💨🔥🔥🔥."

Earlier this month, Dart sat down for an interview with Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated and shared what it means to be part of the Giants organization:

“It’s a privilege to be the quarterback for the Giants," Dart said. "I’m going to take it upon my shoulders to make sure that I handle it and approach it the right way, go out there and give it everything that I got.”

Dart isn’t walking into the job unchallenged. He’ll be competing in training camp with veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with returning Giant Tommy DeVito. In that same interview, Dart talked about the mindset within the quarterback room:

“Our sole focus, as a quarterback room, is to win games,” he added. “That’s why we come to work every single day. We want to win. So we all have the same focus, we have the same intent in what we’re doing and how we’re trying to handle it to make the team better.”

While playing under Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss, Dart put together a strong senior season. He threw for 29 touchdowns with just six interceptions and finished with 4,279 passing yards. He also rushed for 495 yards and three touchdowns.

The Rebels ended their 2024 season with a 10-3 record, capped off by a Gator Bowl victory over Duke. Their only losses came against Kentucky, LSU and Florida.

The Giants will kick off their preseason schedule on Saturday, August 9, against the Buffalo Bills. The regular season opens on September 7 when they visit the Washington Commanders.
