The New York Giants are expected to lean heavily on their 2025 rookie class at varying points in the upcoming NFL season. Abdul Carter will be the superstar edge rusher from Day 1, and quarterback Jaxson Dart should take over as QB1 sometime after the midseason mark.
Fourth-round running back Cam Skattebo will have a big role, too, and in a recent 100 Bold Predictions for the 2025 NFL Season on Sports Illustrated, he'll have a massive impact in the Giants' Week 13 game against the New England Patriots.
We're talking 38-carries massive.
Yep, SI's Connor Orr made his tongue-in-cheek projection about Skattebo's workload in a rainy contest at Foxboro, but the bigger picture is this: Skattebo will be a major factor in the Giants' offense this season, and if he's toting the rock 38 times in Week 13, then he likely unseated incumbent starter, Tyrone Tracy Jr., several weeks earlier.
Skattebo finished fifth in the 2024 Heisman Trophy voting after ending last season with 293 carries for 1,711 yards and an astonishing 21 touchdowns. He was a factor as a receiver, too, catching 45 passes for 605 yards and three scores.
While Tracy and veteran Devin Singletary will be ahead of Skattebo early in his career, there's no doubt the former Arizona State Sun Devil has the most natural talent as a runner. It should be only a matter of time before he's the lead back, and if he does unseat Tracy in time for Week 13's showdown against the Patriots, a 38-carry day could, in fact, be in the cards.
