The New York Giants have a chance to get off on the right foot in 2025 this year.

For the better part of the last two decades, the Washington Commanders and New York Giants have been competing as the doormats of the NFC East.

Things have changed, though - at least in one of those cities.

With the arrival of Jayden Daniels, the Commanders have turned themselves into title contenders seemingly overnight. Washington reached the NFC Championship game for the first time in over 30 years last season.

The Giants, meanwhile, are still in the basement of the division as they come off a dismal 30-win season.

But ...

While Washington is an arrow-up franchise, the Giants will get their first crack and proving last year was something of a fluke for the Commanders.

The teams will face off in Week 1 of the 2025 season ... and New York has a chance to prove something.

Washington may have swept the series last year, but they were not easy wins for the franchise. New York lost in Week 2 against their rivals 21-18 in a game that saw their kicker miss multiple extra points and field goals. In Week 9, the Commanders squashed a late comeback by the Giants to win 27-22.

New York has led the all-time series against Washington by a 108-73-5 margin. Despite being swept in 2024, the Giants have won 10 of the last 14 matchups.

Could things be changing for the better with Russell Wilson and Abdul Carter leading a new group of Giants? Absolutely. And Week 1's showdown offers a chance to prove that.
