Following a disastrous 2024 NFL season, the New York Giants found themselves with a bit of a quarterback problem.

With Daniel Jones not working out, the Giants elected to release him in the middle of the season, making way for backups Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock to take over. But the two quarterbacks proved they weren't the answer as well.

With free agency underway, the Giants have begun the search for their next starting quarterback, and Pittsburgh Steelers star Russell Wilson has become a "more viable option" for New York than someone like Aaron Rodgers, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Whether the Giants go with Wilson, Rodgers or even a rookie from the 2025 NFL draft class, a second option has been put into place as New York has signed former Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million deal.

After being selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Winston spent his first five NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being replaced by Tom Brady. He went on to spend the next four seasons with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Browns in 2024.

This past season, Winston saw the most action since his final year with Tampa Bay. In 12 games played, he completed 181-of-296 passes for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

DeVito also re-signed with the Giants on a one-year deal, but the team is likely not done making moves. Although they have a "standing offer" for Rodgers, the former Green Bay Packers star's decision is not expected anytime soon. This may cause a delay in Wilson's next destination, with the Giants showing interest in both players.
